AENA entrusts SIA with border control at three of Spain's most important airports

The international airports of Madrid-Barajas, Malaga-Costa del Sol and Ibiza receive more than 70 million passengers every year. And all of them must pass through border control at their facilities to reach their destination.
The increase in the flow of travellers and the strict EU regulations have led, since 2010, to the development of advanced solutions to automate and streamline border control processes with maximum security. To respond to this situation, from the point of view of compliance and technology, SIA has the Smart Borders solution.
To meet the requirements of the project at the three airports, AENA deployed 160 eGates (ABC System) together with SIA. These are control systems integrated with police systems that automate the control process in three dimensions: travel document (passport or Spanish electronic ID, including authenticity and fraud control), biometrics (bearer versus passport, facial and/or fingerprint) and police signals (lost/stolen document or person of police interest).
