SIA joins forces with Women4Cyber spain to promote diversity and female participation in cybersecurity
Madrid, July 18, 2022. - SIA, an Indra company and leading cybersecurity entity through which another group company, Minsait, provides services in this area, has signed a partnership agreement with Women4Cyber Spain to promote diversity and equality and enhance the presence and development of female talent in the area of cybersecurity. With this commitment, SIA also intends to continue improving the ratio of women joining the organization, which has increased by 33% over the past year.
According to SIA CEO Roberto Espina, “the complementary nature of female talent is an essential asset within organizations and, in this case, cybersecurity, an area for the employability of the future that requires the presence of more women, together with their perspective and capabilities. A company that doesn’t include diversity in its business strategy is missing out on an extraordinary opportunity”. In addition, he added, “it’s essential to encourage more women to take an interest in the sector by making its female role models more visible”.
As a result of the agreement, the two organizations will undertake to make every effort to cooperate in the implementation of activities geared towards promoting the career development and employment of women in cybersecurity, thus enhancing the visibility of female talent in this field and promoting networking and knowledge in this regard. The initiatives will include workshops, courses, scholarships, consulting, the publication of job vacancies, access to a pool of diverse profiles at functional, regional and generational levels, participation in talks and specific events and much more.
Eduvigis Ortiz, President of Women4Cyber Spain, stated that “we’re thrilled to be able to rely on SIA’s commitment and its participation in our organization in support of our aim to promote female talent and make it more visible so as to achieve a more equitable, diverse and safer world. At W4C Spain we seek to be promoters of a social and cultural change entailing greater participation of women in the field of technology in general and cybersecurity in particular."
More specifically, to this effect, as the first association for women in cybersecurity with European backing and the Spanish chapter of the European W4C non-profit Foundation, “we implement different projects and initiatives, including the Companies Program, through which companies such as SIA, in full alignment with our objectives, can contribute to the task of enhancing the position of women in the cybersecurity sector. This is a sector with an excellent future, full of opportunities in terms of training, employment and entrepreneurship”, declared Charo Pinilla, Program Manager and Head of Business Relations at Women4Cyber Spain.
With the signing of this agreement, SIA, as a company and a part of Indra, has ratified the Group’s commitment to an inclusive culture with different dimensions of gender-based, generational, functional and cultural diversity in order to facilitate equal opportunities. The above is endorsed by distinctions such as its inclusion in 2020 and 2021 in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which acknowledges commitment to equality, the advancement of women, diversity and transparency in information related to gender issues.
At the same time, SIA, aware that the future of cybersecurity largely depends on its ability to attract, retain and promote women, has taken steps in this direction with the implementation of specific policies, measures and processes in the day-to-day running of its organization, with the firm intention of continuing to move forward along this path.
